This happened to someone else very very recently. I think the cause was the fuel guage was showing fuel in the tank but in fact it was empty.

Andrew, there was an issue with fuel pumps on the 4.2 S/C - I remember reading a TSB about it. Have a look in Bobby's gallery, might be there.

If you're in or around Melbourne Andrew, then contact your namesake Andrew J the Service manager at Lance Dixon. Via your reg number, or VIN he'll quickly be able to find out if your car is part of the fuel pump recall or not.
