Dangerous failure - RRSPORT S/C (Power Steering & Brake

Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been already posted, but I'm having the following problem:

1. Car turns off while driving
2. Loss of power steering
3. Loss of power brakes
4. Which all lead to extremely dangerous situations

Just in case you didn't get it, all of these things happen at once, when the car mysteriously turns off while driving.

The same problem can also happen if the fuel range indicator tells me I have say 120kms left of driving before the fuel runs out, and then the car decides to run out of fuel regardless of how much distance the indicator says it has left on it. Obviously this then causes the same 4 symptoms as above.

Please, as many people chime in as possibile, I really need to know whether I'm the only one experiencing this dangerous situation. Drivers in Australia especially chime in.

Your help is much appreciated.

This happened to someone else very very recently. I think the cause was the fuel guage was showing fuel in the tank but in fact it was empty.

Do a search for Cityladd's last post. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Andrew, there was an issue with fuel pumps on the 4.2 S/C - I remember reading a TSB about it. Have a look in Bobby's gallery, might be there.

edit- don't think he does, have a look on the GTR site if you can.

If you're in or around Melbourne Andrew, then contact your namesake Cool Andrew J the Service manager at Lance Dixon. Via your reg number, or VIN he'll quickly be able to find out if your car is part of the fuel pump recall or not.

He may also have other experiences of similar issues. Thumbs Up

This was the reason for joining the forum and my first post.
Car just died on a long left hand bend.
Dealer found no error report on the diagnostics.
Believe me, it happened and I did not accidently switch the ignition off as was suggested by one reply.

It has never occurred again. Fuel tank was one third full.
I was fobbed off by the dealer/s as I have been with the ride sensors.
