I’m thinking of to “butching up” the sport a little, as I’m now tired of the “street look”. So the 20” Stormers are coming off again & am currently trying to source a mild, but yet knotty tyre for the 19” rims. But that’s being discussed elsewhere.

I’d also like get an under body plate, but see that on the LR brochure, they only list the plate for use with a winch. I know that Mantec do a non-winch plate for the D3, but can’t seem to get any info on a RRS version.

So anyone got any info on the availability of a non-winch plate for the RRS ????

I assume there must be two versions available from LR as the G4 kit can be bought with or without a winch and there is a bump plate available with the RRS G4 Accessory kit A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

I have the LR underbody plate and no winch. Unfortunately, this is one of those LR rumors/mistakes, however, as clearly evident, there are a number of us running the underbody plate without the winch. As far as I can tell, there is only 1 version of the shield from LR...not two, or at least, here in the U.S. that's the case, can't swear for sure for the UK - but it's a moot point anyway.

What you have to be aware of however, is that you do have to do a small bit of cutting of plastic, i.e. the shield that covers the front recovery hook, however, no cutting of the bumper is required. And...the bolts which come with the underbody shield have to be changed a bit to a different length Grade 8 bolt, since obviously you won't have to put the bolt through the winch assembly and then thru the shield, therefore you need shorter bolts.

I've helped a number of the RR.NET owners do the install with pictures, let me know when you are ready and I'll send them over.

Also, I don't know where the intercooler air vent would be on a turbodiesel engine (on the S/C it's be down there behind the LR G4 accessory skid plate), so you may have to modify that plate a bit as well. Here is a rr.net forum member with a S/C and the plate, note the holes drilled on the LH of the plate to allow for airflow to the supercharger:

I don't mind the cutting aspect of the fit up job. Just one question though........

Is the installation reversible ??

Say for instance whenever I decide to trade the car, will I be able to return it to standard, or will there be evidence of where I cut the plastic ??

These sort of cuts are normally one-way... a little bit like fitting the roof bars.

What I'm wondering is, are the cuts underneath & hidden away when viewing the car normally & you only see the cuts if you crawl in under.

Or are the cuts in plain view ?

As long as the underbody shield is on, you cannot see the cuts unless you peer very closely around the recovery hook. If you are planning on taking the shield off, then the cuts would be visible, but perhaps you could then replace that plastic piece with a new one. PJPR - 06 Cairns Blue RRS HSE Adventurer

Is it not possible to grind off the two plates shown in the photo below, then you would not have to trim the bodywork to fit the guard ? and when it time to sell the RRS, just refit the tow hook cover
