Thinking about getting a Hawke Exhaust Silencer Kit for my 4.4 V8. Anyone got one of these, and how does it actually effect the end sound of the RR?? I really just want to add some Oval Silencer Ends but the ones I have found on Ebay are 200 quid for the ends only, so at 495 for a Hawke Exhaust (which makes it growl apparently, and with the Oval ends of course) it seems like a good buy ? .... And a good name as well, instead of buying the Oval ends alone which are probably from China !

Also, I was reading the other day about putting oversize tyres on wheels to help scuffing when offroading or accidental kerbing... I agree that it is better to avoid the kerb but do oversize tyres help at all in this respect ? .... The main question is, will they work ok if oversized, wanna make sure they wont effect performance at all. The wheels I am ordering are 22" Stormers.

I have never actually heard the Hawke exhaust, but the guys at Hawke said that gives a verty distinct deep growl and I trust their opinion after dealing with them for quite a while. If you want one I can supply the exhaust for £440 inc VAT (RRS users only) , shipping would be £10 on top.

With regards the tyres you can run over sized tyres, but they will increase the rolling radius of the tyre which will put your speedo out and will make the wheel and tyre heavier. The extra weight in theory will affect t he handling but if you use decent quality tyres the weight differance will be marginal so you will hardly notice the differance. If you are going for 22" Stormers and use a 285/40/22 tyres your speedo will be out by about 6-6.5% (depending on what size wheels are on currently) so when you arfe doing 60mphit will read about 64mph. Apart from that there should be no issues running a slightly larger tyre. www.designerwheels.co.uk

What are the normal tyre sizes for the 22" Stormer then ?

Are there any reasonable arguments for staying with a 20" Stormer, as per the standard spec...

I´ve only got 19" standard wheels, so even the 20" Stormer would be a major improvement - I like the ones with Black in them though, as my RR is Java.

The problems, if you want to call them that, are all really practical.... if you're planning on taking your car off the tarmac, your 20s will likely get damaged and 22s will be right out. However, if that's not the plan then you shouldn't see any major problems
