Sat nav DVD read error

I recently started getting a read error on my sat nav DVD.. the error happens when you choose a destination and then the "calculating route" black bar is almost complete.. took it to LR dealer, who still can't fix it after 3 full days.. any ideas?

Just tell the dealer to fix it. I cannot believe you have accepted the vehicle back with no fix.

I am assuming though you are still IN warranty.....if you are not, then that's a different story Very Happy My Gladiators:

These stories always crack me up. I keep picturing the LR techs all sitting inside your car for the past 3 days, going "Dang, it's getting stuck again, OMG what are we going to do now?!?" Have they tried, oh I don't know, cleaning and/or replacing the DVD first and, if that doesn't fix it, the faulty DVD drive? Hard to believe that they would need to think it over for 3 days.

No I didn't take the car back the dealer still has it. My warranty runs out in 1 month. They have told me it is a software problem, and that they have tried to download the latest software many times but that it is not installing properly and they don't know why. Of course I have pushed them to hurry up but they seem lost with the issue and aren't taking a next step.

Well then ,they need to sort their lives out and get it sorted. It's not like you're going to say "oh well, thanks for trying" and then let it lie are you? Take it somewhere else SOON, if you're not going to get any joy out of your current service department.

Get it sorted while in warranty. It worked before, why would the software change itself and stop working?

Ask them to try a new DVD drive. If they don't cooporate, contact LR Customer Service and go to another dealer. By contacting LRCS before the warranty runs out, they should still honour a claim if made later.

Had the same problem with the Sat Nav DVD, all I had to do was clean it. Even though it is in the DVD reader, dust and dirt will still get in. If you do clean it, be careful how you do it. A soft, lint free cloth and wipe from the centre to the edge, NOT round the way.

Idea

Extend your warranty while you still can... If you can...
