On the Hebridean island of Tiree

Tiree is a small place and is a known place for old Land Rovers to go and die quietly as they don't need to pass MOT tests unless they are returning to the mainland.................... there never used to be many modern Land Rovers out there and I was surprised to find that now the cars of choice with the islanders are now Land Rovers of any age or model - I was surprised to be followed one day by a Java RRS TDv6HSE and then saw a Silver S/C. D3's a re very popular with the islanders and in a week I counted 6 of them, 4 Freelander2's and several Freelander 1's live on the island too, FFRR's and P38A RRs are also popular but the Defender remains the most common Landy on the island and I saw at least 15 of them of various ages and states of rot!

Here's FA57 RRS on holiday at the sunniest place in Britain (although you wouldn't have thought it was last week!)

Coming home - waiting for the ferry to Oban

On the same ferry as us were 2 D3's and a FFRR also well laden with windsurfing and holiday kit A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Tata TDv8 HSE - Stornoway/ebony and straight grain walnut with towpack, Tasmods and an HST grille. Coming soon LEDs in the headlights
Staying - Epsom Green Defender 90 for playing off road

Mis, managed to reduce the amount of gear this year! There were 2 of us, one windsurfer each (normally 2 or even 3) and 3 rigs each (mast sail and boom) the very long board on the trailer is my standup paddle board which had it's maiden voyage during the week. In the box part of the trailer there are 2 mountain bikes as well. The back of the RRS is pretty full too............................. one thing I did notice and some thing that I wasn't expecting was the hit that the fuel consumption took - normally on the 90 mile run from home to Oban I would average 29-32mpg. With the trailer on the back and nothing on the roof I got 23mpg MAX! Around the island it dropped to 21.5mpg. A Carbon Footprint is the mark a lump of coal makes when it's dropped on the ground.

Offroad on Tiree - there are no roads.......................................... well there are but they are not what you guys down there in the sarf would call a road - only a track with passing places every 300m or so. The only two lane "highway" on Tiree is the road to the airport the rest is single track and much of that is a cart track!!

And they have the only award winning ferry shelter in the UK there!
